One Great Day

Well as is my usual Sunday routine I went to the Aikido Center in Arcata, Ca. to sit with the Arcata Zen Group : (AZG) as they are known. Wow! what a great group of people . How fortunate I am to live in an area where there is such a great sangha. We had a fabulous well being ceremony followed by oryoki training for our upcoming sesshin next Saturday , Feb.23, 2008. If your ever in Arcata, look us up and come and sit awhile we would be glad to meet you! Really nothing special happened with me today, just my path opening right in front of me and walking it with total LOVE and Awarness. As crazy as it sounds, the ZEN way of life although not easy is so much more wonderful, peaceful,loving,blessed, and SANE than anything I've ever done . It truly is complete detachment from all delusion . Your life and mind both come into line and you discover the riches you already possess. What's better than that? All of life is change and peace and freedom are always available--so simple and yet so powerful ! No Holy places only Holy moments like this ONE! I love you my brothers and sisters . Be Well

This Magic Moment

Well I haven't had any post this year, so it's about time to get this new year going. Hope everyone had a great Valentine's Day ! Loving Life,Letting Go , and enjoying this beautiful moment unparelled peace and contentment . Real freedom is found in our hearts and minds and not in outside cicumstances. Really it is so much simpler to live in this moment, grasping at nothing, with no fixed ideas nor desired outcomes, and meet life with total awareness and pure LOVE , then watch what happens. It gets much easier when when you get rid of that TV and just rest in the freshness of this moment . Detachment from delusion feels right and very restful. Well I'm off to the zendo tommorow
and I hope to have more post in this coming year . Peace and Blessings!

another beautiful rainy day

Thinking of a song....maybe you can hear it too.....(As I was walking down the street one day) Merry Christmas and Greetings from Eureka, Ca. it's pouring rain outside,but inside it's a bright sunshiney kind of day for me ! I hope your day is as hopeful
and peaceful as it can possibly be. Got up this morning and put on a BAJA shirt and went to my Wed. morning meeting and it was some powerful stuff like it always is ,but never the same twice. But it is the WAY! (A man came up to me) I've learned that my path is just in a general direction which contains peace,love,joy,and delusional thinking. Service to others is also very important . Just sitting here drinking a hot cup of tea w/honey, writing this BLOG -How Groovy! ( Does anybody really know what time it is? Does anybody really care.... about time? If so I can't imagine why?) Really if your not meditating your not getting WHAT YOU REALLY WANT !! I love you please make it happen. The best things in life are Free,but not without work . Namaste.

Cheri Moore case indictments

With all the hubub in the Times-Standard about the recently indicted police commanders that gave the orders to have Cheri Moore fatally shot, I thought it was time I commented. Why was there so much force on that day? Couldn't the Mental Health Dept. have been called in to talk with this lady? Did she really need to perish on that day? These are some questions I would like answered and when I hear the term "JUSTICE" portrayed in print or in the media why does it always mean RETRIBUTION . For the record,and remember you heard it here first, :RETRIBUTION IS NO SOLUTION!! It just keeps the battle going. Do we learn humility through humiliation? If prison and jails actually worked, wouldn't we need less of them and not more ? If we could enforce our way to peace and happiness,wouldn't it have been accomplished in the 2500 yrs. that the approach has been tried ? Real "JUSTICE" would be to insure a prosperous society for all because the real enemies are POVERTY and US VS.THEM THINKING. That's right we're all ONE: the trees that grow,the ocean waves,the wind and sunrise,and your very life--no difference! Then from that we can love our neighbors as ourselves because in fact we are our neighbors! End poverty,violence ,and racism and replace it with genuine love and commpassion for ourselves. That's why even if the commanders are found guilty--which there is a presumption of innocence until a verdict has been rendered-- I say NO JAIL TIME ! Cheri Moore is dead and nothing will bring her back. I would like to see all of law enforcement go through sensitivity training and have a civilian review board, after all our taxes pay their salaries they should be accountable to WE THE PEOPLE. Unquestioned obedience is not patriotic it's just NEUROTIC!

Wonderful World

I see skies of blue,red roses too and I think to myself what a wonderful world. Beauty is a heart that generates love and a mind that is open!! Hope you are having a great moment wherever you are in the world because this moment is all there is. I've been listening to some Frank Sinatra recently and I'm reminded about how really good that guy was for more than 60 years . What a treasure ! Bring some beauty in your life TODAY: go to the art museum,buy and display some cut flowers, go for a walk, take a bubble bath, or whatever brings you genuine peace and happiness. There is nothing wrong with you. You beautiful perfect human being! What a miracle is this whole human race,but how do we choose to spend it? Do we maintain a seperate self, do we live in the past or future,do we have an us vs. them thinking? This is DELUSIONAL THINKING that will bring us untold misery. Except for our thoughts, when you consider all of humanity that is living and all the centuries that others have lived, I'm really just a gran of sand on the beach glistening in the sun, nothing more or less. If you can't find peace ,happiness, love and kindness NOW when can you find it? Life is a series of lessons, enter in with love and thanksgiving because each path is unique; that's how important you are! I was taught by MASTERS ,but I didn't always know it. Peace and Thanks

Christmas wishes

Christmas time oh what a majical time of year! Enjoy this wonderful moment as we are alive here on Earth with over 4 billion other folks to share our lovingkindness. I had a great meditation this morning with one of the group's I attend weekly resting in absolute peace and wonder. The other day I red a great quote: Beauty is a heart that generates love and a mind that is open . All there ever is or will ever be is found in this moment==Enjoy it! Christmas time has always been a time of goodwill and generosity. May it be so this year in our war torn world where suffering abounds. Let's get together all brothers and sisters and realize the oneness of all humanity and forever banish war. No more us and them - justice for just us--all of us! I've always loved the movie PAY IT FORWARD how super it would be if we all could do 3 acts of random kindness for our fellow man and woman. In fact we CAN! The next 3 people you meet offer them a kind word & if they thank you tell them to pay it forward. Why not? Think good thoughts and have a great holiday!! Namaste

Peace,Love ,&Blessings To All!!
I'm reading Dr. Weil's book Spontaneous Healing and it is filled with wonderful possibilities like the mind's ability to overcome disease and disability. Right on!! Reminds me of a verse in the Dhammapada: The mind is the forerunner of all things with our thoughts and our actions we create the WORLD. Our culture is in it's infancy of understanding the mind/body connection. The present medical establishment pursues surgery, and allopathic medicine without regard for the human spirit or the body's ability to heal itself. This is a deeply flawed system that needs to be overhauled, but not eliminated. Surgery has it's place after lifestyle issues such as diet, exercise,nutritional analysis,and other enviromental factors are considered. Let's talk about some BIG KILLERS like cigarette smoking, over consumption of alcohol,sedentary lifestyle, way too much meat in our diets and too little fiber,STRESS,and DRUGS!! If we really took the best care of ourselves as possible there generally speaking would be minimal need for surgeries. Clearly for most people in the USA 3 good things you could do for yourself for long term health: 1. begin a meditation practice 2. adopt a vegetarian diet 3. turn off the TV Health and Healing is in our hands and our MINDS. STOP DESTROYING YOURSELF--LOVE YOURSELVES and EACH OTHER!! This precious human life is something to truly be grateful for-- live in harmony and have compassion for all humanity. When your needs are few your riches will be GREAT.

Chilly Willy Night

Well tonight is when the Emergency Winter Shelter opens in Eureka Ca. and it is cold ! Some of these folks will stand out in line all night in this cold just to get a chance at a warm room for the winter . Three years ago I was one of these people myself and that was a freezing night too. My heart especially goes out to the women and children who have to suffer in these elements and still they are not guaranteed a room . I'm reminded of a quote I heard one time " The fundamental delusion of humanity is that WE are in here and THEY are out there" My peaceful brothers and sisters HOMELESSNESS IN THE USA is completely solvable all it takes is the willingness to open our eyes,minds,hearts,and homes or garages to those we see suffering. We can put men on the MOON ,but we can not house them on Earth ? Did you know that the word compassion means to suffer along with ? So I think that is what I will do tonight let me make some coffee and get some thermoses,cups ,and don't forget SUGAR and go give it freely and warm those freezing souls up. Time to break out the LOVE PITCHER and pour it on--what's a little lost sleep,coffee and cups, when you want to make a speck of peace in this world . I'm am deeply honored to be a servant of this community and I give with Love so that ALL of us may live in PEACE and HARMONY ! "May all beings be at peace and may they all have health and happiness" I bow to the cold- thank you for allowing me this opportunity to show that Humboldt County really is the County that Love Made . I Love You-I'm here 2 help & I need your help. You help me by being your perfect,beautiful,and wonderful self just as you R .I had a beautiful Thanksgiving week sharing love, peace,blessings,&GREAT FOOD with all who attended the celebration at the Arcata Veterans Memorial Hall @ 14&J in beautiful Arcata, Ca. . The food,volunteers, and VIBE was AWESOME ! Music was provided by the Arcata Interfaith Choir WOW r they good . Especially the song MAKE ME AN INSTRUMENT OF THY PEACE. It shows what can be accomplished with cooperation and compassion for all. "and the time will come when we see we're all ONE and life flows on within you and without you." George Harrison. Remember :One Day compassion and cooperation will overcome command and control. Peace will return to the Earth again ! I also attended a farewell ceremony for a cedar tree on Sunday that was to be cut down the following Tuesday 11.27.07 and I was again reminded how we all are truly one because when I hugged that tree it HUGGED ME BACK-WOW !! John Muir had it right all along ! Enjoying this perfect, beautiful moment is all there is or ever will be . The wind in the trees,the waves of the ocean,the sunrise/sunset,and my life--no difference. How rare and beautiful this life-- Thank You for being alive now and sharing this moment with me !
